I probably shouldn't admit to this, but its not me that taught this to our child, so that makes me feel a little better. Tyson finds great joy in teaching our kids the stupid things we did as kids. I can't think of any examples other than the one I'm about to give, so here's the story. You can be mad at us, but just admit, everyone's done this at some point, until it comes back to bite you and you just learned your lesson.
So, the other day, Tyson and I were talking about someone that we know that was just diagnosed with cancer. Tyson was giving me and update and Tanner overheard a part of the conversation. Being the inquisitive little 7-yr-old that he is, he asked what we were talking about. So we told him, someone we know is sick with cancer. To which, without skipping a beat, and in all seriousness, he says, "Oh no, was their hand bigger than their face?" Neither one of us could keep from laughing, which we felt horrible about, but he asked with sincere concern for this person. Now, to explain why he asked that question. For some reason when you're a kid, its fun to try and find a reason to smack someone in the face, so you'd tell someone that if your hand is bigger than your face, you have cancer. So what do they do? They stick their hand up to their face to test it out and BAM! You smack their hand against their face. Tyson had told this to Tanner, so when he heard us talking about someone with cancer, of course his only knowledge of this thing called cancer is if someones hand is bigger than their face, they have it. So there you go. We aren't proud of this little moment, but none the less, his innocence gave us a moment of laughter.
